Public Engagement

The decision on whether or not to proceed with a bid must be informed by the thoughts and concerns of Calgarians and residents of the Bow Valley Corridor The Public Engagement and Community Impact team has developed a multi-pronged research effort to speak with citizens and the community organizations that serve them, with the goal of better understanding the potential impact that bidding on and potentially hosting a Games would have.

The research model includes a random phone and online survey, a series of interviews with sector serving community organizations and an open questionnaire available to all members of the public. Each research tool will examine impacts from multiple perspectives including economic, social, cultural and environmental.

The public’s input is tremendously important in determining not only if a bid advances but, if it does, what concerns it must address.
