Welcome to the Bid Exploration Blog
The Calgary Bid Exploration Committee (CBEC) has been tasked with conducting an objective and comprehensive feasibility assessment on whether or not Calgary could host the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and, if so, whether it is prudent to submit a bid to the International Olympic Committee.
One of the Committee’s mandates is to encourage public engagement to ensure all Calgarians have the opportunity to have their voices heard. Over the next several weeks, CBEC will be sharing updates about its work and its findings to date. The information contained within these updates are many of the key factors to consider as it relates to the final recommendation that will be delivered to Calgary City Council at the end of July. This information is presented without bias and will cover topics such as potential venues, cultural contributions, security, geographic considerations, and more. These posts are not final conclusions, but rather considerations and information being assessed by The Committee.
The Calgary Bid Exploration Committee encourages comments and conversation that are constructive, factual and free of inappropriate content.
